HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Kurfi LGEA was established in 1991 after the creation of the Local Government. The LGEA started operating in temporary building before shifting to its permanent secretariat which was build by the Local Government Council 1996.
Presently, the LGEA is managed under the following four department i.e Personnel Management, Inspectorate or schools services, Planning Research and Statistic and finance and supply. The LGEA has seven Hundred (702) staff both teaching and non teaching.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN
* Sponsorship of GRII Teachers for NCE training in March 2000
* Assistance to pivotal participants programme in April 2000
* Construction and rehabilitation of schools and furniture supply.
* Sponsoring of pupils feeding and transport of any examination

PTA ACHIEVEMENTS
They assisted in furniture supply, rehabilitation, construction of classroom and toilets, fencing of some schools as well as provision of instructional materials.
DONORS AGENCIES ACHIEVEMENTS
The donor agencies like UNICEF, UBEP and world Bank achieved in Rehabilitation of classrooms and toilets, construction of bore-holes drilling, workshop, sanitization, furniture, supply of exercise and textbooks.
AWARD RECEIVED BY LGEA
The LGEA received prizes and awards in zonal level Quiz and debate, like wise in Qur’anic recitation competition. The LGEA was commended as the best in Katsina state in payment of teachers leave grand in the year 2004.
SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS BY INDIVIDUAL PHILANTROPISTS
Maradin Katsina, District Head of Kurfi donated Maradi Ahmadu Primary School with forty seater furniture, water reservoire, fencing, gate, school sign board, toilet construction and supply of Hausa textbooks.
Senator Sam’ila Mamman Kurfi constructed a Primary School with one block of two classrooms, toilets and Headmasters offices.
Dr. Ishaq Idris supplied Islamic Textbooks to Maradi Model Primary School
Hon. Dr. Rab’u Abdulkadir Kurfi supplied Typewriter to Maradi Amadu Model Primary School.
Alh. Amadi Kurfi constructed toilets supplied furniture, sign board, school bags and writing materials to Amadi Kurfi Qur’anic Model Primary School.
